Elementary  Music

Elementary students in 1st - 5th grades meet once a week to learn basic music skills. Students are introduced to music education through basic theory, singing and learning to use instruments. They perform two musical concerts a year (December & May.)

Some of the skills taught in Elementary music are beat and rhythm, melody, harmony, instrumental technique, creating compositions, expression, music history and integrating music with general academic subjects.

Recorder & Elementary Band

Recorder classes are available to students beginning in the 3rd grade and Elementary Band is available to students in 4th - 5 th grades. While in 4th & 5th grades, students may play the recorder or learn to play a band instrument. Students in their first year of learning to play a band instrument are in the Beginning Elementary Band, those in their second year are in the Advanced Elementary Band.

Musical instruction includes beat and rhythm, melody, harmony, instrumental technique, creating compositions, expression, music history and integrating music with general academic subjects.

Students in these elementary class perform at elementary school musicals (December & May.)

Middle School Chorus

Middle School Chorus is offered to all students in the 6th – 8th grade. In chorus, the students are instructed in basic music theory concepts, the reading of music including time, note value, note names, and note rhythms. Proper vocal techniques are taught to the students as the songs are  learned. Our Middle School Chorus participates in two annual concerts  (Decemeber & May) and competes in the Georgia Independent Christian Arts & Academics (GICAA) Regional & State Choral Competitions. 

High School Chorus

High School Chorus is offered to all students in the 9th – 12th grade. In chorus the students will continue to learn music theory concepts, the reading of music and time, note value, note names, and note rhythms. Advanced vocal technique are taught to the students as the songs are learned. Our High School Chorus participates in off-campus events, two annual concerts  (Decemeber & May) and competes in the Georgia Independent Christian Arts & Academics (GICAA) Regional & State Choral Competitions.

 Middle School & High School Band

Middle School Band (6th-8th grade) and High School Band (9th-12th grade) each meet 4 days a week.

Continued music instruction includes advanced methods in beat and rhythm, melody, harmony, instrumental technique, creating compositions, form, expression, music history, performance, and integrating music with general academic subjects.

Students in each of these upper school bands perform at the following: concerts, chapel, pep band for school sports events, off campus performances, and the Georgia Independant Christian Arts & Academics (GICAA) Regional and State Competitions.
